Do I need Pilates experience for the Mat Plus Teacher training program?

Yes, some Pilates experience is required.  It is important to know that you enjoy the movement modality and have felt some of the benefits that it provides.

Do I need Pilates experience for the Group Equipment Teacher training program?

Yes, for the group Equipment Pilates teacher training you need to have familiarity with the Reformer, Cadillac/Wall Unit, and Pilates mat work. Ideally you have at least 20 hours of group class and/or Private lesson time with a qualified Pilates teacher. This prerequisite ensures that you are competent in the basic and intermediate movements of Pilates and have an understanding of the different apparatus. 

Do I need Pilates experience for the Comprehensive Pilates Teacher training program?

Yes, for the comprehensive program you need to have completed a minimum of 20 Private lessons with a comprehensively trained Pilates teacher.  This prerequisite ensures that you are competent in the basic and intermediate movements of Pilates and have an understanding as well as experience using the different Pilates equipment.  The comprehensive program is to teach you how to TEACH Pilates, so it helps if you can already execute the basic and intermediate movements. 

Do I need a background in Kinesiology or Anatomy?

No, this is not a perquisite as we will cover the required Anatomy during the training programs. However, it is a great asset if you do have education in these areas. 

Can I pay in installments?

A Deposit of 50% of tuition is due upon acceptance to reserve your place in the program. This deposit is non-refundable after the first seminar has begun. The balance of tuition must be paid at the beginning of the first seminar weekend. 50% of this balance is refundable if a student withdraws no later than 30 days after the beginning of the first seminar.  If further installments for payments are required, please speak to the Apprentice Supervisor. 

How much does it cost?

The fees are as follows: Non-refundable application fee of $150 for the Comprehensive program and $75 for the Group Equipment and Mat Plus program.

The Mat Plus Teacher training program costs $2000.00, The Group Equipment teacher training program costs $4000.00, and the Comprehensive Pilates teacher training program cost $6000.00.  Each program also has a required number of Private Pilates sessions that must be completed over the course of the apprenticeship. These would be at the going rate at your local studio.

Testing Fees: $100 for the Basic and Intermediate Comprehensive Test, $150 for the Final Comprehensive Evaluation. $150 for the Final Group Equipment Evaluation. $100 for the Final Mat Plus Evaluation

How long does it take?

The Mat Plus Pilates teacher training program requires 150 hours of apprenticeship plus the multi weekend learning sessions. This takes between 4 and 6 months to complete depending how many hours per week you can dedicate to your training.

The Group Equipment teacher training program requires 300 hours of apprenticeship plus the multi weekend learning sessions. This takes between 6 and 9 months to complete depending on how many hours you dedicate to your training.

The Comprehensive Pilates Teacher training program requires 600 hours of apprenticeship plus the multi weekend learning sessions. This takes between 9 and 18 months to complete depending how many hours per week you can dedicate to your training.

What is Pilates? Pilates is a century old movement practice that moves the body with stretch, strength, and control. It uses a variety of apparatus to teach the body to move functionally and fluidly.

What if there isn't a classical studio to apprentice at where I live?

Apprenticeship is a key part of the program so ensuring that you have a space to do your practice teaching with Classical equipment is important. If this is a concern for you, please contact the Apprenticeship Coordinator and we’ll be happy to work out a plan that works.

How would I get my apprentice hours?

Apprenticeship hours are generally completed at the training center with an agreed upon schedule with the studio owner.   Any concerns and questions you may have about this detail, please schedule a meeting with the Apprenticeship Coordinator to discuss your options. 

Can I take this course virtually?

This may be possible but will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

Do I need to show proof of my COVID-19 Vaccination to attend these trainings?

Yes, we do require proof of COVID-19 vaccination to take our trainings. Teacher Training programs are intensive and require teachers and apprentices to be close together for extended periods of time.  It is important that we ensure the health and safety of our staff and families.

Can I travel to the training and then apprentice in my hometown?

Yes, this is possible if you have a relationship with a classical studio in your hometown who has agreed to allow you to complete apprenticeship hours there.   The apprenticeship supervisor is able to help a studio owner understand the needs of the arrangement and can help with forging a path that works.
